What are some famous ones? I know there is Chopin, Liszt, Tchaik, Cliburn... What else?

And why don't we have like Mozart, Rachmaninov, Beethoven competitions?

There are many many many piano competitions.

You can get an application i think, and then you send in midis of you audition i think. then if you get chosen, you get to play at arectial for a round. then you play a schubert sonata. then you play a quartet or something. then you play a concerto. Thats if you get that far. Wink

Yeah, I've heard of that. There is also a competition, for people around me, U.A.E, Bahrain, and other arab countries. I'm gonna participate this year.

There's a Russian lady who has a piano competition here in New Brunswick.

It's Ludmila Knezkova-Hussey piano competition. I don't know if it's world famous, but a lot of people internationally participate.

competitions are an antithesis of art

but they are perfesct if they judge by SDC timings...yet they dont ...so they suck
