I had played these in concert a couple of days ago, and not anymore since then, and I didn't warm up or anything so it's full of mistakes and stuff.. Also, I have the worst recording equipment ever, so the quality is pure crap too (listen how my mic cant handle the ff at the end of the Chopin). I like the Bach myself much more than the Chopin, but that one's less annoying to play

the ``blackout ``in the 10n5 is kinda funny.
your playing is good , but i heard recording of the black key sounds brilliant (i mean like sparkling )

Blackout? And do you mean you heard other recordings that were more sparkling? Cuz that's my piano >_O (it sounds really harsh above forte, just listen to the octaves )

Completely disregarding how I dislike the sound of your piano (lol too bright for me and the keys sound so insanely light),I like the Bach.. but try a little deeper, richer sound ~ the fast passages were good.

Same goes for the Black Key ~ it's really cool with nice technique ^_^

Maybe it's because of your piano, but your Bach sound is really simple.
I've just been used to deep, pensive sound emitted from the piano by the performer. So it's interesting for me to hear it like this.. your piano sounds way better with Chopin though ~ the brightness of it goes well with the Black Key in particular ^-^

I wanna see your hands when you play the Black Key.. I've always heard recordings, but I've never seen the motion.

Yeah my piano has an extremely thin sound, it sounds the same as it feels . (+ the mic doesn't make it sound a lot better)

Yeah the shades arent pimpin anymore.

I liked the Bach especially but I think maybe you need to work on the Etude more as a whole on phrasing and presenting it as one piece not as several different sections, if you see what I mean. But technically and musically it was great (probably better than mine, its really awkward on my hand)

Do you play it with flat fingers or curved?

I noticed the section thing too . I'm reworking it, this rec taught me a lot.

Flat, almost throughout the whole etude. I find it a lot easier on black keys, and my teacher didn't try to make me use curved cuz it worked for me.

Yeah, thats how I play it too. Lots of wrist movement too. It feels like playing it with your knuckles...lol

i gave it a 95, it sounded great, after you set aside the crappy audio quality, but i agree with you: the octaves are a bit too forte

Lol, i always play the black key w/ curved fingers. Hmmmmphhh

Curved usually helps me with articulation and speed, but flat fingers produce a much nicer tone.


And these recordings are damn old already, I play both a lot diffirent (as in not anymore).
