Viola/ Alto Clef

Since I'm getting my viola on tuesday, I was wondering if anyone has played this, or has been experienced w/ the alto clef. It seems so strange learning a new clef once again. The last time that happened was like three years ago when i started piano and started reading bass clef. But, even then, the bass clef is align w/ the treble(ie: the f is still on a line, just one down) but in the alto clef, every thing is moved one line/spave downward. I was just curious if i could share my confusion w/ anyone. Thanks!

It's not too difficult, I remember learning about the alto and tenor clefs in theory last year, I also had to do many exercices in each one. Takes a little getting used to, but I'm sure you'll be comfortable with it in no time.

It's even worse when you have to write key signitures on an alto stave (for me at least)

My sister plays the viola since a month ago, she learnt the new clef really quickly, so no problem .

Well, i don't haven't played with the alto clef on an instrument, I did not find it hard to learn it. While I know the Viola is tuned down a 5th from the Violin, I don't know if the clef follows with it...

From my experience, the easiest way to learn a new clef is to use it. Find pieces written in the clef and play them, take some piece and "transpose" it to the new clef etc.
