Has anyone heard of this guy? He is a banker, but knows how to conduct, and has spent nearly 30 millions dollars on buying complete Mahler manuscripts. He has hired LSO (London Symphony Orchestra) with his own money, and has only done one conducting in his entire life, Mahler 2nd symphony, which easily basshes versions of Karajan, Bernstein,.... The guy owns this piece.

Yeah, a friend told me about the guy just recently. Fascinating stuff.
His Mahler 2nd with the Vienna Philharmonic is on my to-buy list.

A very nice guy, who of course knows the Mahler 2nd inside-and-out. I found his talk recently on the piece very fascinating.

Is he a genius?
I find it almost impossible for someone with conducting abilities as him, to be able to do that recordings, and come out that successful....
