She's still got a great voice, but wtf is going on in her head?

most of the time she looks like she's posing for something that's like Playboy Opera Version.

and she's trying to experiment now with "different" music, using eastern aspects.
Too bad it looks like she's a dumb broad >_>

check this out:
http://www.sarah-brightman.com/capitol/mtv/harem_300.asf

I love eastern music, especially middle eastern sounds (much of turkish style reflected in Bosnian music ) but she's a shame to what is basically a beautiful theme.
The video and lyrics are degrading to both sexes particularly women (not to mention how she's portraying the culture ), and the vocals in this "new" stuff I think are just stupid.
She shouldn't have tried to do a "Harem" theme.. she's just fu**ed things up.. she ain't no mozart (ie - referring to The Abduction From The Seraglio)

the only good part is the costumes.. and the sultan's kinda hot lol

another:
http://www.sarah-brightman.com/capitol/mtv/beautiful_300.asf

now what the hell is this?
the video is too sensual and ... just... stupid.
the song itself is just dumb.. "you are beautiful" blah blah blah wtf
yeah not everyone has millions to get makeup artists like she

so I just wanna say:

"WTF SARAH???"

It really doesn't concern me in the least, since to me Sarah Brightman, like many of todays "classical" and "crossover" artists, has proven herself to be second-rate in my opinion. There are very few, if any, first-rate singers of the sophisticated repertory, and Sarah Brightman isn't one of them. Give me Melba, Tetrazzini, Lily Pons, Callas, Flagstad, Rise Stevens, Elisabeth Schumann, Rosa Ponselle, and Maggie Teyte any day . I am not surprised, in fact, that Ms. Brightman would try to publicize herself this way; it is modern times, you know, and people will do anything for money; she appeals to the average person in this way of trying new things she hasn't ever done before that she is not truly capable of while staying commonplace and mundane.

She's trying to fit in, as you can see, obviously with mixed results. Can't say I blame her fully, because it's so hard for so-called "classical" artists, even "cross-over" artists, to earn much-needed money. I never liked her at all before, however, and I can't say I feel any different now. I am no purist, but I am somewhat disgusted, although I understand that it is hard to survive in this competitive market, and people will do anything to succeed.

crossover crap indeed - because there is no such thing as crossover

all they do is take a quasi-classical stereotypical timbral pallette - and compose pop music with it

there isnt anything classical at all about it

i have nothing against the music, i have something against the fact that many people think this is even remotely classical

i do have something agains the music - cuz she was involved with way better stuff before, and now she's doing crap. wtf is up with the lyrics ugh
various melodic lines are ok but the interpretation isn't exactly, IMO, acceptable.. especially of a woman her age

but..

I agree with you here

too many people are ignorant to "classical music" and actually only think of it as the overgeneralized term that it's often referred to as.

sarah's given in to this, and decided to put a more "popular spin" on things, so she can make some nice dough.

what a traitor bit*h

I can imagine that it wasn't even remotely an easy decision for her. Chozart, you must understand that artists have to make such decisions, and most aren't close to being perfect human beings. I'm sure she stirred your sentiments and entranced your heart with her delightful singing many times, and she will continue to do so. Many of my favorite musical artists, such as Mario Lanza, also tried to publicize themselves by appealing to the masses, but that doesn't change my opinion of their talent, potential, or even of the person himself. You can only hope that she will not continue on such a path, which will be ultimately destructive to an otherwise promising career. In truth, I believe that you will not stop listening to her crooning those delightful classic Bel Canto & Neapolitan lyrics that have made her impeccably famous; again, all artists must make money, and although I feel she does regret betraying her most conservative fans this way, she did it and it is an untimely part of her history.
Best Wishes,
Philip Daniel
