My Demise Is Today

Postby PianistSk8er on Sat Jun 09, 2007 1:35 pm

That's right: my Grade X Practical Piano Examination will be taking place in roughly six hours.

I will be playing:
  • Bach's Prelude and Fugue in B-flat Major, Book I
  • Beethoven's Piano Sonata in C Minor, Op. 10 No. 1 (Movements I and II)
  • Chopin's Polonaise in C-sharp Minor, Op. 26 No. 1
  • Debussy's Prelude to the Suite Bergamasque
  • Prokofiev's March from the Love for Three Oranges
  • Chopin's Etude in G-flat Major, Op. 10 No. 5
  • Scriabin's Etude in C-sharp Minor, Op. 2
As well as an assortment of technique, sight reading and ear training exercises.

Wish me luck!
This is my last exam...!

Thanks!

Good news: it wasn't so bad. Actually, it went very well. I didn't have memory slips where I thought I might (second movement of the Beethoven sonata). Unfortunately, I messed up temporarily in the Black Keys for no good reason. It was in the beginning, and I have no clue why it happened. Maybe I know that piece so well that, when I began to play, my brain turned off. Other than that, the pieces went very well, technique wasn't too bad, ear exercices were also OK, and sight reading went fine. If all goes well, I'll get 75 or more (which is required for going on to the next level, the Associate degree).

I feel so relieved to have finished this. Ever since I began piano, I have been looking forward to completing this exam.

Hoorah! :P
