|
What year was the piece composed in?
If not the specific piece itself, what year was the opus composed and published in?
Did Chopin write the revolutionary etude after the fall of poland to Russia or something?
Give me the historical background to the rev. etude about the russia and poland thing.
Thanks a lot.

It was composed in the September of 1831 and published in 1833.
According to a music encyclopedia:
Quote: |
From his early youth he had been fascinated by the rhythms and melodic vitality of Polish folk music, and the finales of both concertos are strongly influenced by Polish dances - particularly the mazurka. After giving their premières with great success, Chopin left Poland for Paris. On the way, he composed the great Revolutionary Study, in response to the devastating news that the Russians had captured Warsaw. |
Sorry that's all I know!

I realize that my Karma is at risk by posting this because pocorina's dropped to -3 since her post and Helling's to -13 since his. But I gave you both +1 recently!
Mine is currently +1/-0.

Hmm it seems like someone's against me too...how horrible! I wonder if I can give *myself* +1?
If not, I'll toss you over one, Erik.

Yeah now i'm at -14 so I guess it's an endless chain of evil. I've actually been rather freely throwing away evil scores when i read things I didn't like so I think now my karma is back to haunt me.
Gave Goldberg one point to compensate him for his generosity.

Haha all riiiight!
Yeah, sometimes when I'm really bored and if I read something "I don't like" as you said, I'll pop a -1 off at someone, but that only happens like once in a great while when I have nothing better to do lol. Otherwise, I actually do give out quite a lot of +1's too, more than -1's at least. I guess I'm just a positive person....har...

Haha ; anyhow, I hope noone really takes those ratings too seriously... they were more-or-less implemented for the *cough* "comme" days.
Now back to topic! (even though the question's been answered )

When I first heard the title "Revolutionary Etude" I thought that the piece was called that because the technique in the etude was something new and revolutionary and it wasn't because of the "character" (and the time of writing the etude) of the piece. Oh well.
BTW, I haven't posted anything useful in these forums, but I still have relatively good karma. Hehe.

Sorry, Helling, your karma just dropped to minus 19
Who dropped mine? (I'm guessing it'll go down another point now)
