Hmm this topic is old. In any case, I prefer the first versions of these much to the second, since Liszt really went somewhat overboard simplifying them and making them sound a bit tame. This is especially true for la chasse, which is a nice piece and all but the first version is much more effective (and really not hideously difficult either).
I'm in the process of recording the first version of these, so wish me luck (especially for no 4 hehe).

Well, I like no.3 and 4 the most, though It takes me a long time to get through 4, and I can't get through no.3 at all.

no 4 isnt so bad in the second version. The main difficulty is making the transition between the hands smooth, since two hands share one stave. A bit like bach somehow.
