Hey all!
I need Pachabel's Canon in D, as I am playing at a wedding on December 31 and I thought I had the real version, but apparently it's a variation on Canon in D.
If you could help me find that, it would be much appreciated. Nothing too difficult, but not too easy; something I can learn in a few days.
Much appreciated.

There is no "real" version for piano.
The "real" version is for 3 violins and a cello/viola de gamba.
I'll PM you two nice arrangements.

The verisimilitude of the statement is absolutely immaterial, but I believe there is a "real" version for organ--real, that is, as written by Pachabel. Does anyone know for sure?
I also want to ask if anyone else has heard David Lanz's variations on this theme...I've suggested it to a LOT of people for weddings and NO ONE has played it yet. Apparently they all think I'm crazy, but I think the arrangement is quite beautiful. However, I doubt you could learn it by the 31st unless you're one of those people who can memorise a good 20 pages or so, up to par, in that short of time. It's not hard at all, though...just memorising it well enough.

Haha, I shouldn't have put real version. What I meant by that was the one that's always played on the piano at weddings. I thought I had that version of the one for piano, but I had a variation of the piano version. Next time, I'll have to be more clear.
Anyways, I got what I was looking for; Rach, you were a little late, as Nico had already PMed me... plus his version was easier, and I need a quick-fix type thing, but thanks anyways.

Yeah, again I'm not too sure there's really a "standard" version out there, even for piano, simply because there ARE so many arrangements! I think ideally the way to go is to simply remember the chords and then improvise with them; that way, you don't have to learn anything, you can practice just a couple times, and be able to time it well enough to go with the events in the wedding instead of having to stop quite abruptly in the middle of an existing piece. You also won't be so nervous since you'll just be improvising and not trying to play the real notes.
Just a thought.

Lol, I know this is old, but.. that's very similar to what I did for a wedding I played in. I learned the chords at first and simply improvised various little chord progressions as a final cadence that would work in a lot of places. My subterfuge worked pretty well, too bad I got so nervous!
