That Bach got payed about 80 dollars per year when Handel made about 2500?

In my opinion, it should have been the opposite, but then again, Handel seemed to know "who to shake hands with".

yes it is interesting

also interesting how after his death some of his works were given away and used for things NOT involving music... like wrapping food

people can be so monstrously na´ve Neutral

Well Bach wrote mainly for Churches, I assume Handel got people to patron his works.

Not all people understand music well. Or maybe epople at that time didn't like Bach's music because they sound "modern" to them. Perhapes they would say:"Great attempt, Sebastian, but your leaps are too juicy."

A bit like Schubert also. (except he was just not particulary famous anyway!)

I also find it ironic that when Bach had been asked to work at St. Thomas's Church in Leipzig, he was kind of their 'last resort'. They would much rather have had Telemann, who was much more famous at the time..
