I found them like that, probably to ease internet transfers, that's the reason I picked those ones, among many others.

Except for the Argerich, I've heard all those performances previously. Nice to hear the golden agers (Friedman and the Rock), as usual, those were my favorite. The Arrau was technically fabulous (his 10/1 is of the same ilk..dry and impeccable), and I love those old Rubinstein preludes (I assume that's from the EMI recording).

I'm listening to the Arrua rev etude now. It's quite faster than what I have heard. Technically perfect, as thrac mentioned. I'll listen to the others after this one.

thanks for the Op 34/1 waltz PS, its my favourite and i hadn't listened to a recording of it since my Roger Woodward plays Chopin cd got broken. Now i can listen to that beautiful piece whenever i like. cheers

lol sorry.. it's a sort of peeve of mine
but I'll go in some correspondence with the order in which you posted them nonetheless..
- Argerich's playing is, again, really wonderful
even though I don't really like that Etude that much..
- I actually don't like Arrau's interpretation of the Rev...
In my opinion, it seems it is so fast to the point where there is less musicality. Technically, it's great. But to me, that's of a slighly lesser importance...

you're right about the vintage sound ~ I like it too
- but I don't really like this one in various parts either.. a tad too elaborate for my tastes
- Friedman's Polonaise I like though!
I sort of expected a little more/less "oomph" in some parts, but I really enjoy this one ^_^
What can I say though? It's probably my favorite Polonaise
BTW... isn't it in A flat major, not D flat..? o_O
- Rubinstein's 28/24 is really powerful ~ much enjoyed
not my favorite prelude, but the playing makes up for it
- his Valse Brillante is really delicate.. I've usually heard much bolder versions of it, but this one is nice also. Not my favorite, but still good.
- I don't know what to say about the Rachmaninov.. by Rachmaninov
(did I by any chance go a tad overboard with the smileys? hehe )

The Debussy is Arabesque No. 2, not 1 . I actually liked the Arrau a lot, who said he was unflamboyant? lol.
I heard the Argerich before, really neat recording, but sometimes a rather sloppy left hand, but so fast it's not very recognizable .
And Chozart's right, the polonaise is in A flat.
Great Friedman recordings, which version of LC is that?
I'm a huge fan of vintage recordings, thanks a lot .

Hey, well all do that.
As for the number of the rhapsody and the key of that Polonaise, I'm sorry, I typed it all up in a hurry, but the music is still all there.

I stand corrected in that you did have some form in which you posted those recordings. However, WTF... the composers' names are of more significance, as they stand entirely unique!
even so, you should have posted the names first then, not the composers! lol
anyway, shutting up about that..
