Some of my friends are looking for some good violin duet music to play at a concert. They can play a double violin concerto, but the orchestra would be played by a piano.
Can anyone recommend some good violin duets that are on an intermediate level?

I guess Prokofiev violin sonata no. 2 would be out of the question.
There is the famous Bach double. I have only played the first movement with another person, and although the level of difficulty of the actual notes is probably intermediate, putting it together is more of a challenge. If you forget a note, falter or rush, it is a recipe for disaster. The first movement is perhaps overplayed, so maybe the second or third? The second is pure beauty.
Also, you can check out the Vivaldi duets.

Yeah I've thought about the Double Violin Concerto. My friend's played that, a long, long, time ago.
I've looked into Vivaldi and found several pieces, thank you.
Perhaps if I said advanced intermediate, would you know any more pieces/composers?

I have not played many violin duets, so I'm afraid I can't be of more use. What piece did your friends end up choosing?

Actually, I'm not sure if they have chosen one yet. I think they may go with a Vivaldi Concerto, however. They are very nice.

There is a myriad of Vivaldi violin music, probably for duet also. Bach two violin concertos are great also, some of my favorite violin music. I would go with those.

Not sure if it's intermediate but I love Bach's D minor concerto for two violins, and also maybe you could try an arrangement of the flower duet for two violins, which will sound lovely.

Yes, we know about the Bach Double Violin Concerto in D Minor. Read one of my posts above. Did he write more than one? I checked the Classical Midi Archives and only found the famous one.
What's the flower duet?

The Flower Duet is from an opera, originally for voice, but also famous for oboe or clarinet duet. I think it is by pucinni. Maybe you can find a version for violin somewhere, though it is not for violin originally.

The "Flower Duet" is by Leo Delibes, from his opera Lakme.
