I'm trying my hand at writing a sonata for my teacher, who i'll be leaving the next month (for a better one). He's a big fan of jazz, so i'm trying to do it in a jazzy idiom.
I'm working on a Pentatonic Etude and a short song for Trumpet and Piano.
"Music is the silence between the notes."
-Claude Debussy
"Art is not an end in itself, but a means of addressing humanity."
-Modest Mussorgsky
"Music is an outburst of the soul."
-Frederick Delius
im working on a nocturne-styled variation thingy. (not sure how to call it.) its a secret and i didnt tell any of my friends or family.
i like variations cus im too lazy to think of another melody. lol.
Scarlatti Sonatas. I'm content learning about two per week at the moment, nothing too hard (L.449, 224, 245, 335, 241, 30, 36, 186 and 23). As soon as I give one the once-over, I move on to another. It's fun. After I do about a dozen like this, I'll probably record them.
They're like potato chips. Nobody can play just one!

Learning Chopin's Scherzo op. 31, Ballade op. 23 and etudes op. 10 no. 3 and op. 24 no. 12. for a concert with a friend and my teacher . They'll play mostly Chopin aswell ( couple of polonaises and etudes) and 2-3 pieces of some other composes.
I'm so excited about it and can't wait but on the other had, I'm afraid of getting nervous and losing control on that concert. I'd appreciate any advice on those 4 pieces
