Any Classical Performance piece

Postby MidnightEve » 14 Mar 2008, 04:10

Hi there everyone. This is my first time posting here but I find this place very nice.
Anyways, to the point.
I am looking for a baroque-classical piece for my school performance that is coming in about 4-5 weeks.
I'm looking for one that basically, sounds good and will impress the audience and my judge, also not too hard.
It doesn't matter if it's famous or non-famous as long as it's good.
Please comment suggestions and pieces.
Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

Give me a better idea of your current level. Fur Elise, Clementi sonatina, an easy Mozart sonata, easy Beethoven sonata, Difficult Beethoven sonata, Chopin nocturne, prelude or etudes, Bach 2 part invention, 3 voice fugue, 4 or 5 voice fugue?

What composer are you particularly interested in, for this?

What I do to impress people is play short, fast-ish songs that aren't really all *that* difficult. For example; the pieces I played at a recital once were L'Orage and Puck, which are about intermediate difficulty (they seemed it to me, anyways), and got me alot of claps and words of approval. Though, neither of those pieces are classical or baroque.

I'm sure you get my point.
"Music is the silence between the notes."
-Claude Debussy
"Art is not an end in itself, but a means of addressing humanity."
-Modest Mussorgsky
"Music is an outburst of the soul."

May I inquire, which Etudes? That would really help determine you difficulty level.

If was you, I would Just go with one of the Etudes, Because everytime I perform one
I've always got people Surrounding the Piano.

Opus 10 nos 4,5,7,9 or 12 are impressive and relatively (and I use the following word loosely) "easy".

As far as a Classical or Baroque piece, which is what you need, no?

If choosing a Bach Prelude and Fugue, are you required to play both the prelude and the fugue or can you just play either or?

Beethoven's Grand Sonate Pathetique is always a winner, in my book. Or if your up to it, one of his late period sonatas would knock off plenty of socks.

Whatever you choose, make sure you already know it via listening and that you feel deeply passionate about that certain composition.

Keep us apprised of your situation!
