How DO I record my compositions?

I've written a few pieces myself... but I am wondering, how did you people record your compositions into sound files?

Just use a normal recording program, print your written works (if they are written by computer), play them, record them with the recording program. Simple eh? Or do you mean something else?

Well, one of the easiest ways to write your compositions in a notation program such as Finale or Sibelius. Each has there own method of saving audio files. The other route you could go is to hire an orchestra although this gets expensive quickly.

Finale: http://www.finalemusic.com/
Sibelius: http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/home/home.pl
Google Search: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Music+Notation+Program%22&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Hope this helps,

I feel reallllyyyyyyyy dumb... but you record with a mic attached to your computer? Or are there other alternatives...?
I'm wondering if those Disclavier thingies work too.

A microphone works not bad. But if you want better recordings you should buy a big one or one specially used for these things. :)
