Chopin Piano Recital

Postby PlamenJelev » 22 Feb 2010, 19:18

Hello, Chopin lovers = )

My name is Plamen, I'm from Bulgaria and I've been a Chopin admirer since I was a little boy. There's no need for describing the impact his music has had on me ...

Instead, I'd like to share with you a few videos from a recital I held in my hometown (Dobrich) back on November 10th 2009 dedicated on the Polish National Independence Day (I'm very grateful to the Polish Embassy in Sofia, who helped organize the event). Unfortunately, I didn't perform nearly half as good as during rehearsals. I'm no concert pianist and I lack the nerv and skills for playing properly in front of a big audience. Still, I'd like to pay a little homage to this great composer by sharing my attempts on the piano with a few fellow Chopin lovers = ) I hope you enjoy my playing!

On my YouTube channel ( www.youtube.com/user/AnotherKosioWannabe ) you may find the Ballade in G minor, the Nocturne in C sharp minor, the Valse in E minor (Op. posth.) and the Prelude in F minor.

Also, any comments, recommendations, critics, advices etc. would be highly appreciated.

P.S. Oh, and ... Happy 200th, Monsieur Chopin = )

Thank you, your words really mean much to me = )

The trouble with my performance (especially of the ballade) is that I can't really balance between expressing my emotion through the instrument and yet playing correct and technically precise.
Might I ask, which performance of the ballade do you like best? The first time I heard it, it was played by Peter Schmalfuss ... and I must say, this recording is still among the best I've ever heard.

P.S. I must admit, the ballade is my favourite Chopin composition = ) I can only hope to one day reach a level where I can play it the way it sounds in my head ...
