Define contemporary

What does that mean? Since 1900, does that include any rock or hip hop? I personally like Nine Inch Nails for that industrial rock sound and the way he actually messes with weird time signatures (March of the Pigs) and theory (Hurt's tritone, or Closer's outro), which may not be saying much in classical music but says a lot about rock. Plus he doesn't make it sound arbitrary like technical death metal (though those bands are good in their respect). Bone Thug-n-Harmony is pretty simplistic with their track loops, but they can range from beautiful (Crossroads) to funny (Ecstasy) to just chill (Ghetto Cowboy). They also have a lyrical and somewhat melodic flow, which I can't say for trash like 50 cent. Plus their parts (flesh n bone, crazy bone, bizzie bone and the rest) work their raps together really well and does a lot to add variety in their vocal style, Bizzies' high pitch to I think crazy bone's low).

Just throwing it out there.

Classical is my favorite "genre". Ever. but I'm a music fan and can appreciate every piece of music in any form (except Finnisy and maybe Xenakis... or Toru Takemitsu, just the over the top avant-garde stuff, but not all, example: I love ligeti and cage).

Yeah, just wondering. I do know that Drummer6 likes Rush like I do, though.

Man, I don't Like Rush..... I LOVE Rush!

You are Right. Contemporary can be any kind of Music from the 20th Century. See, When I Hear contemporary I think of: George Gershwin, Bernstein and composers like that.
But in Reality it can be anyone from Gershwin to Run DMC.

As for My Genres, I am Big fan of Punk Music mainly, But I also love to listen to: Rock, Goth, World
and Rap (But only the Old kind of Rap, like the Beastie Boys, not the new "Music" that they call Rap.)
And I am Also (Forgive me if I'm Rambling) a Big fan of Middle Eastern Music Like: Orfa Haza, Besh O' Drom and other bands like that.

Here is my definition of "Contemporary Classical Music":

Music that has been composed by living or recently deceased composers (1990 onward). This would include those such as Takemitsu, Xenakis, Ligeti, Messiaen (recently deceased), Kapustin, Vine, Rautavaara (living), and many others, of course. This does not include those such as Gershwin, Bartók, Prokofiev (early 20th century), Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Medtner (late Romantic), etc. Yes, this is a very specific definition, but I think it gets rid of a lot of confusion. It also doesn't make sense to call someone contemporary classical music if they have been dead for such a long time.
