his music is like a more cerebral rach

maybe less immediately warm, but just as rewarding

check out dre's complete sonatas recording on 4 cd

Medtner was a great composer of his time. Practically born a genius, he took the sonata form and reached to new heights with it. His immense talents for melody, harmony, and his ideal love for polyphony manifest themselves in every work of his.

Beethoven's Sonatas are perfect in every way. He said what he meant and meant what he said!

Ironically, Clementi is my favorite sonata writer. I don't think Scarlatti's count as "Sonatas", insofar as their construction. Yet his (Scarlatti's) count as my second favorite. Mozart is tied for second place. Beethoven gets third (sic) in my mind.

I don't really care for Chopin's sonatas. I try playing them, but I just get bored.

Nothing can compare to Beethoven, in my opinion. His sonatas are some of my favourite music ever composed. The pure musical emotion is rarely matched, in my ears.

I imagine his Sonatas will reign supreme until humans evolve into creatures with more than ten fingers.

Ditto on J.S. Bach's WTK.

Beethoven's or Mozart's would be best in My Book. Chopin's IMO are a little too Depressing.
