i started playing piano and violin at 5 coz my parents made me. Never liked it but continued playing. i quit piano after 9, violin after 11 but started piano again after i saw shine. Now i love it and try to play as much as i can. i've also started collecting classical cds this year (only got about 100 so far)

My story is exactly this, only I never started violin. ;)I only started actually liking it about 3 years ago.

I suppose there's always a "down hill" period for almost everyone of us. I stopped but got so much more interested after "The pianist" and a chopin recital, now I just wish I have more time for practice! :)

Ce que vous etes. Sorry, couldn't help it :o

I've always wanted to learn to play the piano, and about a year ago, it suddenly dawned upon me that i could actually afford to buy a digital piano. I did, and immediately started trying to teach myself how to play. It's gone fairly well, but about a month ago i decided to try out a teacher. He's quite good, and all in all, i'm happy.

Oh Jeliness, "Je" doesn't need a capital J in every case, unlike the "I" in English. Just thought I'd point that out. ;)E.g. Je suis ce que je suis, mais tu es ce que tu es. Nous ne sommes pas la même personne! D'ailleurs, je suis un pianiste beaucoup plus doué! haha! I wish. :P

It's weird, I just told this story...

When I was in 8th grade, I was riding home in the car from my grandparent's house. I assume it was a sunday night (i don't rember, but it would make sense). I was flipping through the channel's on the radio. I came across a Violin Concerto by Bach and viola (no pun intended) here we are...

i wanted to learn piano since i was 3, when i went to a concert of Beethoven's piano concerto and Chopin's etudes and Mozart violin concertos. I didnt start learning piano until 5 tho. lol.

anyways, soon, when i was around 6, i started reading about composers. Mozart immediately captured my interest, because he was famous not only as an adult, but as a kid. and i was a kid, and felt like me and Mozart had a lot in common. i was weird in my own way, just like him.

later, when i was 9, i started to understand more mature emotions, and Chopin's music captured my heart. Thank u sooooooooo much Chopin for bringing such WONDERFUL music to us!!!!!!!!!

Well, I first wanted to go into band because my sister was in it, and so I took band and learned the trumpet a bit. Then, one year, I heard "Bennie and the Jets" on the radio, and wanted to learn to play the piano like Elton John. So, I got out my trumpet sheet music and started to play little tunes on the piano, until I started to take lessons, and after a few lessons my interest in classical music was sparked up.

As you can all tell by My screen name, I'm a Drummer, The Drums are who I am, I have been a Drummer pretty much since I can remember.

As for classical music, it was always just another kind of music too me, The thought of playing the piano never crossed My mind. I had a family member (who would later be My first piano teacher) who played piano at the Church I went to growing up, and getting the watch her play every week really gave a Prespective as of how the Piano works, But still It did not inerest me.It was not until I was ten years old that I found out how Inseresting the piano really was. I was at a party with My family one day, and over in the corner there was Old upright piano and a young child (Maybe about Five years old) playing it. I had not really been paying attention, Until they started playing "Fur Elise", I was amazed at how someone that young could play so well. So I went over Standing in awe of this little Kid, watching as they hit each note perfectly, and after they were done I Rushed over and started doing everything I had just Witnessed. And much to my Surprise I was able to Play "Fur elise" Pefectly Just Upon seeing it. So after that, I asked My parents If I could take piano lessons,of course they said "Yes" after seeing what I could do. I started learning the basics, later on I Got my first piano, Got Hooked on Chopin's Music after hearing his "Revolutionary Etude" at age 12, From then on I tryed to learn as much of Chopin's Music as I could, and I am now where you see me today.
Just Another musician trying to make His way in the Classical World.

Once when I was very young, I watched Horowitz live from Moscow, that Sunday morning on CBS. My interest was incurably piqued.

I still have the original tape from 1986, complete with the shot of a "lady" (using the term loosely) examining what she'd just extracted from her nostril. For some reason that was edited out of any current recordings.

I sh** you not. She was picking her nose. When I get my VHS to DVD recorder, I'll post it on youtube

Somehow that most human of moments, lightened my attitude toward piano study. The cliche advice to the jittery speaker is "picture your audience in their underwear." I've got one better: If I ever get nervous in front of a crowd, rest assured they will dig for gold.
Per Sapientiam Felicitas!
