Hamelin's 4th movement, live and studio, are better than Gibbons'. Dre's build-up is profound making the climax absolutely wild, and the whole thing is in general much more controlled.

@Comme: The 1st movement of Symphony is my fave too.

Gibbons' etudes are impressive, but the only one that can really compare to Hamelin's is the Concerto Allegro Assai. It's quite beautiful, and is a good alternative to Hamelins'. I find that Gibbons has a unique way of linking the passages that is very smooth. It's not as jaw-dropping as Hamelin's, but I HIGHLY recommend it. For a piece of the magnitude of Op39 8, you need more than one recording!

BTW: You should be discussing this on my stupid-ass forums! :twisted:
