What are some good shorter literature for this ( 5 to 6 minutes or less). Did Rachmaninoff write anything? If so what is the best. Comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello there agitato2219,

One piece which I can´t have enough of is Schubert´s fantasia (in Fminor i think) for four hands. It´s actually way longer than 5-6 minuets- around twenty I think, but I actually think there are some places where you can stop, if you don´t find that too disrespectful or "illegal". Otherwise I would beg you to look at some Mendelssohn which might suit you better.

agitato2219,

Yes - Rachmaninoff did compose 4-hand, 1-piano music. It's his opus 11, a set of 6 pieces (which is 4-5 minutes each). I never heard all of them except for No. 5 ("Romance" in C minor) which you can listen at http://www.classicalarchives.com - just look for Rachmaninoff. Anyway, all of these six pieces you can find at http://www.piano.ru/rah.html

For some more recommendation, I suggest "Qui Vive" by Ganz (op.12). I always play it with my teacher as it's the only 4-hand repertoire we have.

I don't recommend the popular "La Grace" (if you have heard it) as it's very boring in my opinion.

The Brahms Hungarian Dances all have 4 hand arrangements
There are some Dvorak Dances as well...I think...they are good (and 4 piano)

I've decided that 2 piano stuff is better, heh. Mozarts C minor fugue for 2 pianos is absolutly awesome.
