Romantic Piano Concerto Series

Postby jre58591 » 12 Nov 2005, 02:04

some of you may be familiar with this 38 volume set that hyperion records has been putting out for about 15 years. it is dedicated to lesser known composers that dont get the respect they deserve. here is a link of the website for tehse cd's:
http://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/collection_page.asp?name=RomanticPC
here you can discuss the recordings themselves, request sheetmusic, or anythin else pertaining to these concertos.

haha you linked to your avy mate. Gamingforce concert hall rocks, I haven't been around much for the past couple of months (been totally offline) but there's always interesting discussions going on as well as the great sheetmusic and recordings thread. There was also a wikid FTP but that died when face left. The series is awesome, I have a few of the recordings, my favourite is probably Hamelin's Henselt concerto. I don't think they've recorded the Rubinstein 3rd yet which is disappointing. I'd love to get the Paderewski recording, I've been dying to hear that one. Unfortunately, Hyperion is too expensive for me. Its a shame, all these english labels like APR and Hyperion have amazingly good stuff but the pound to aussie dollar conversion makes purchasing these cds a luxury I can't afford.

sorry about that. it was like 10:30 pm when i posted that. its fixed now.

anyways, my favorite is the busoni concerto. i think that it is the most powerful and most developed one. i cant wait until they release their next cd.

i can hook you up with the paderewski if you desire. i have all 38 volumes.

judging from my private messages, it seems that the paderewski concerto is very popular. its still available for others who want it.
