Your favorite recordings...

Postby PianistSk8er » 03 Sep 2004, 10:39

Discuss your all-time favorite recordings.

Be it Horowitz, a 75 year old mofo at Vienna, or Lang Lang getting orgasms over Don Juan.

Discuss. 8)

My favorite recordings are those of Walter Gieseking, my favorite modern pianist . I most admire his performances of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Mozart's Sonatas, and Debussy's Complete Piano Works, for his nobility of thought and technical ease.

Sohcatoa, can u send me that recording(if it is Gilel+Reiner, I have Gilel+Jochbum)? I have heartd so much legend about it

And my favorite

ABM live Gaspard, Schumann Carnaval, Brahms/Paganini, all technically perfect with sensational emotion.

Cziffra live concert, Horowitz live concert

ANY Benno Moiseiwitsch, anything, anything he plays are golden.

My most cherished recording is the Rachmaninoff Concerto no.2 and no.3 played Ashkenazy. The first recording, of course. It is among the best Rach 2 and 3. It was also nostalgic for me because it is one of my first recordings I got.

I have some other ones, but I can't think of now.

How about the Alkan concerto for Solo piano played by Hamelin? Legendary recording.
