thanks pal, I actually bought another book of polonase by USA, the one had a church picture on its cover, edited by Pam XXXX. I just got it yesterday.(full colection). Intereting, it marked no pedal at all as compared to my old book by schimer(yellow cover). At same time, it aslo metioned use pedal as at performers discretion-which I agrred.
I listened to Aznazy playing agin...he must have used on the second part. anyway....this all depends on the performer and their arstic feeling at the time ..

My appologies,
I Had a close look last night . Its the Alfred version with binders.-easy to turn the page. The picture on the cover is a city building not church.
